hi. do i need fire-rated down-lights or use fire-hood if i am to use LED bulbs in recessed down lights? thanks
 
Yes.

It's nowt to do wi the type o lamp you use, it's the fact that you have reduced the fire rating of the ceiling by cutting a big hole in it. You are then responsible for returning the ceiling to no worse than it's original rating.
 
ya.the fire-rated are only slighly more expensive nowadays

as already said it's the' holes' in the fire-barrier that's the issue
