Hello All

Can anyone recommend a tried and tested loft aerial for digital freeview please? It doesn't have to be anything fancy.

Gone are the days when you could use a coat hanger.

Cheers

No they're not... in my loft office in north Manchester I can stick a paper clip in the aerial socket of a freeview box, get all the Winter Hill transmissions, plus most of those from Moel-y-Parc in Wales!

Unless there's something like a big tree in the way, a simple basic 10-element aerial should be perfectly fine.
Just make sure it's the right "group" for your area's transmitter - these are designed to work over a smaller frequency range than wideband ones, so have more gain.
certain transmitters have their transmissions at opposite ends of the band for various reasons, so a wideband aerial must be used for those.

Look for one that has CAI Benchmark, and use foil screened cable such as CT100.

Simon.

Might have been the case before switchover but if your in an area that has been switched over the digital transmitter power has been upped now the analogue has been switched off

Not that this is noticeable!

Very noticeable where I am and a pain on rescans for new channels because I'm between two transmitters and the slightly weaker one loads all the main channels because it's uses a slightly lower frequency set and the other fills the gaps
