I am waiting to take my final exams and practising all sorts of wiring at home. Under the floorboards, I found the original wiring (believe it or not, some of it was live...). This is Pirelli, not cheap stuff.

Welcome.

Nice find - I hope the operative word in that sentence is was live?

Still, a good introduction to the realities of domestic sparking.

I imagine the cabling in the conduit was still in good condition - it's at the ends and terminations where it just falls apart....

Oh, they're not live now. No earth at all either, I found it still coiled up under a floorboard upstairs (above the fuse box. Whoever put the wiring in way back when, connected one end to the earthing bar but the floorboard was put back without the cable being fed through to the TT spike. I still haven't found the TT spike, and I've even gone underground Goonies style. No joy. Still, as training grounds go in preparation for my exams, this house is the gift that keeps on giving.
