Fellow sparkies, General Q
I’m 21 with 3 years experience just coming out my time. I have my level 3 and NVQ ; portfolio)done just need to complete my AM2. I’m a typical commercial sparks doing plenty of work with metal containment, SWA cables that sort of works. But I have been thinking about getting into domestic and trying it once I have my card so I get an even better understanding commercially and domestically.
For anyone who has gone from commercial to domestic or visa versa, is it much different? or am I overthinking it? I wouldn’t want to be that ‘new Wally’ 😂Because I haven’t ever worked domestically I feel I might not be as sharp as some others with wiring and just general speed
Any opinions on the differences, pros and cons and what you think would be the best steps for me would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers H

If you can get the work at the right money in commercial, stick to what you’re good at it? None of us can be masters of every part of this trade these days imo, it’s just too broad in scope.

Don't do it. Domestic market is a race to the bottom. Spending your life lifting carpet and floor boards and changing consumer units won't be fun
