Would imagine any 250va toroidal transformer would do if they need replaced.
newlec used to do them.

I've got a feeling they were IBL (or at least IBL made a toroidal with that fuse arrangement)

Wow. Never seen these before. Why do/did such transformers exist?

They are widely used in electronics but in this example I suspect it's for ELV lighting?

Yes, widely used for 12v halogen lighting when it was first introduced. The big problem with them was volt drop on the secondary side wiring, it was vital that voltage at each fitting was a constant 11.something volts, and this lead to the ridiculous scenario of 2.5,4.0 and even 6.0mm cables feeding one lamp if it was not possible to mount the transformer close to the lamps.
I've seen those exact trannies before but cant remember the make. Best option if they have failed is link all the cables to the 230v supply and fit an electronic trannie at each light if they still want halogen,or convert to LED.
