Hi all, new to this forum and could do with some advice re Pat Testing.
As the new law relating to EICR's to the private rented sector is coming up, I'm getting calls from my clients about the inspections but now they are also starting to enquire about having PAT testing done. I'm fully qualified and registered with NAPIT and I would like to start offering this service. As I'm a small business, and I won't be doing PAT testing regularly, can some one recommend a pat tester which will carry out all the tests with results but not cost the earth, especially at the moment (lockdown cost me £££ due to Covid). Someone said to me that as I have Fluke MFT, that I can use the kewtech basic PATADAPTOR1 (See Link)as this along with my MFT will do all the tests required with results. Appreciate any advice.

A PAT test is 80% visual inspection then a check of earth continuity and insulation. A MFT should be able to do that with no add on.
PAT testing machines were introduced so that semi-skilled people could check appliances. An electrician should be able to test appliances using their normal test kit.

That's not completely true. It misses the fact that (other than battery-operated Portable Appliance Testers) the "Earth bond" continuity test is performed at up to around 25A (and not 200mA). And then there's the option of leakage tests etc.

I use the kewtech pat adapter mate, admittedly I only do pat for existing customers if they need it and it’s not a service I offer per se, seems to work ok with my kewtech MFT......but agian I could count on one hand the amount of times I’ve used it
