peugeot key fob

hi hope someone can help.i have a peugeot 307 diesel 1.6 2006.the problem I have is the key fob will only work when I hold the fob near the ignition switch (within 6 inches)everything works fine (locking/unlocking) but as soon as I move the fob away from ignition switch nothing happens.(cant lock/unlock from outside of the car. I have put a new battery in key fob.any ideas

Did you use a good quality replacement battery? Were the contacts clean.

hi thanks for reply I got battery from Halfords so it should be good.i sprayed all contacts with electrical cleaner and had good look inside key fob every thing looks ok.
