I was told on my NICEIC course that we should be using SAP 2005 figures for our calculations but have recently been told that this is nonsense and we should be using SAP 2009. Can anyone let me know what they use?
Interestingly, on a recent PV course we were told that we should be using SAP2009, however, I agree that the MCS documentation still states SAP2005....no doubt they'll catch up some time!
I used the SAP 2005 calculations for our assessment and the NAPIT assessor said that I should be using the SAP 2009 calculations so received a NC! I had to reproduce the paperwork using the SAP 2009 calcs.

Yep, you must use the latest version of SAP 2005. It's in black and white and logical as it may seem that 2009 is newer, the latest MCS standard clearly states SAP 2005
We are now using the 2009 calculations, spoke to the head office at NAPIT and they say to use them. They give off marginally better results too so we benefit.
Interesting discussion, I have my assessment in two weeks time about three weeks ago I was at a ECA seminar and a guy showing the power-point who was an Elecsa MCS assessor told us you can use 2009, there were a few MCS accredited lads there, well in turned to a bit of a debate. My assessment is with the NICEIC so I emailed them for clarification the reply was you can use either as long as you can show transparency to what the system can generate, so that was about as clear as mud.
Had my assessment today, I was told by the assessor to use SAP 2005 as it states in MIS 3002 page 8, and until they change that we must use SAP 2005, this way everyone is on a level playing field. Which totally conflicts with with the email I had from the NICEIC
Yea I got through, on PV and Thermal, as has been posted on here they read EVERYTHING. Make sure you have the whole process from phone call till you install, design, commission and get paid, read MIS 3002 make sure you have it all, loads of paperwork but doable as someone said on here.
