Hi all, am swapping a kitchen double power socket so just hoping to get clarity on the wires and also to check if the new one having USB charged slots makes it any more complicated/incompatible. Much appreciated.

I’ve uploaded pics of existing socket with wiring in place and the front and rear of the new socket.

1) There are 3 earth wires all going into the same connection point. The new socket has two locations for earth so wondering if I can/should split the 3 wires across both points or if if doesn’t matter.

2) Aside from the earth points there are red and blue marked points on the new socket. On the old socket a brown and red cable go into a connection point marked L, and a blue and black cable go into a connection point marked N. Im assuming the red and brown go into the red point and the blue and brown go into the brown point, but If I can get some confirmation on thatwould be much appreciated.

3) Finally, as mentioned, the new socket has USB charger slots. Is there anything different or specific I should be doing or checking for this?

Thanks in advance for any help.
Den.

Red and brown into the brown point, black and blue into the blue point. Yes you can split the earths, I suspect one just connects to the back box but all three should go into one terminal. The fact it has usb points is irrelevant to its connection or use.

And if you look at the back of the new socket there are L and N markings as well, just above the cable holes ?
