What is this switch ?

Hi all

I've recently moved into our new house and i'm puzzled at what this switch is in the porch.

The switch puts on the porch light and an exterior light, but i not sure what that is on the left under the slider.

I thought it was a light sensor but it does nothing.

What picture does it show if you slide it down ? I'm thinking it's an old dimmer perhaps.

I thought that but no good, I might take the front off and see if there's any labels etc

Have you looked behind the switch to see the setup (don't attempt if not qualified)

I would say if you put in on with the moon showing the light will come at night only or if you put it on with the sun symbol then you can use the light in the day if it does neither then it may be faulty or not connected up correctly
