Basically I've got my Level 3 Testing and Inspection exam soon. Now I know from friends who have done it already that I will 100% be testing a shower circuit and a motor circuit, I'm having a complete brain spaz at the moment and I can't remember what tests need to be done for those circuits, both dead and live. So I really need someone's help right now.

The same tests are carried on every circuit regardless of what they are, oobviously there is a slight deviation between single and three phase.

Sorry del what's the panic? Are you hoping that each property only has a shower and motor circuit? As has been said all tests apply to all circuits. Learn and understand the tests and all else will be a walk in the park.

Well I've only even tested lighting, ring and isolators and its all simulated at college. So the idea of testing a shower, motor, oh and garage circuit sort of scares me... I'm probably just being really dumb at the moment.

Raindrops on roses. Whiskers on kittens. Neutrals in switch boxes. Warm woolen mittens. Brown paper packages tied up with strings....

Is that Afrikaans???

It is all the same bits of wire:angel_smile:, just make sure you understand what you are testing and it should all be OK.

The secret is to understand what and why you are testing followed by understanding of interpreting the results that you get.
Have you a tester of your own? Could you not try and knock up some simple test rigs at home.?

I'm scared of the testing part right now, but when that paperworks sitting in front of me... Just oh dear.

Read GN3, you have a copy right?, follow each test through in your head, understand it, don't move to another test until you do. The practical bit is just acting it out in the physical rather than the mental.

Yep I grabbed one from the library at college. Thinking of it I most likely won't stumble up on the testing because that's rather straight forward when I think of it, but it will more than likely be the paperwork that I balls up on.
