Hi. I've got all my qualifications and want to do more work for myself. The only work I've got to show for assessment on the cps scheme is work I've done as a subcontractor on new builds. These are houses I've done from start to finish, but the certificates have been done by the company that I worked for. Does anyone know if napit or any of the others will accept this type of work for the assessment .

Don’t know about that mate, as you need to take em on site and sit down for an hour or two at least on ya first assessment....easiest way is to some non notifiable jobs either at home of for friends that you can take him/her to....they ain’t looking to trip you up but get a good understanding of your knowledge

The biggest issue would probably be getting permission to take the inspector to the house.
After that you could easily fill in a new certificate with your company name on it to hand over to the assessor.

If I had the permission of the builders do you think the inspector would be ok that the work had been done on the behalf of another company even though it was all my own work?

Depending on how soon you get an assessment you will probably need to permission of whoever has moved in to the house.

I think you may have missed my point about completing a certificate with your company name on it.

Sorry, yeah I see what you mean about the cert.
Dont think it would be much of a problem getting permission because they are usually empty for quite a while for the other trades to complete their work.

As long long as you have genuinely completed all aspects of the installation, including the design and inspection and testing yourself then I don't see that it would be too bad to do that.
Obviously if you had not done all aspects of the installation yourself then it would be wrong.

It could be months before the assessment happens as they arent even back to doing them yet since lockdown started. Also those other trades might not be too happy with the power being turned off while you do the assessment.

alternatively, you could fit a new CU and maybe an extra circuit in your own house. use these for assessment. a simple trickwith the CU would be to buy a empty metal CU (just main switch) of the same make as existing and re-use RCDs and MCBs to keep cost down of if you are flush, convert to RCBOs.
