Van Security

Since I started going on my own I've been thinking about better van security, but since buying a few tools that weren't cheap recently I really needed to get my act together and sort it out ASAP.

All of my power tools are now in a metal box with a padlock, which is bolted to the van deck, so they are safe. I'm just wondering how I could make sure my actual toolbag is safe, there's a fair amount of tools in my bag and would not be cheap to replace each tool either...

What would you recommend to keep my toolbag safe overnight? Get another metal box and put my bag in there just for overnight measures? Or I suppose I could take my bag off each night...that might be a bit of a hassle though...

Maybe I'm just paranoid after reading the thread where the guy got his van broken into in another section haha

if you used the dog in the van as a guard, losing the dog would be far worse than any tools. take your bag in at night.

On the lane where my house is (you can't see it from the house), i live in a town centre though and a fair few people walk down this lane too (day and night).

Bestt bet is to get another van vault when you can afford it, until then bring it in the house........or get insurance and chance it......im going to have a similar problem with my new job but i can park mine on the drive and leave bedroom window open, im a light sleeper so ill be my own alarm lol

Bring the tools inside mate and place "No tools left overnight in this van" sticker or be lazy and just have the sticker other than that try park your van under a lamp post right outside yours.
Could just stay on guard all night noseying out the windows? can't think of anything else
EDIT: Move house? too much effort?

I have one of them on the back of my van, didnt stop the [LOTS OF SWEAR WORDS] attempting to break in anyway causing over £800 worth of damage.

She doesn't bite... although she will judge them... and then probably go over for a stroke... I always get the daft ones
