Hi

Firstly if it wasn’t for this forum I would not have been to able to wire my hive controller so quickly so thank you !

Still sort of on topic of my hive I need to disconnect my old wired stat. I believe two of the wires will need connecting together to complete the circuit. Could anyone advise which two it would be?
Many thanks
Jake

Make and model of thermostat?

Do you intend to substitute with a junction box?
It would be safer to do the final modifications at the start of this cable, and then disconnect it!

It looks like blue=N, red=Perm L, and yel/brown sleeve=Switched L.
It would be wise to confirm that from the thermostat schematic before making any changes!

Hi ,

Thanks for your reply. As I have a hive system the new stat is wireless which makes the old wired one redundant. The old stat unfortunately doesn’t have a name on but does have schematics on the back.

When disconnecting the old stat the hive doesn’t fire the boiler which makes me think that two of the cables in the old stat will need joining together to continue the circuit in order to do so?

The old controller was a danfoss so unsure if the stat is also danfos or just a universal one

Many thanks
Jake

OK, the photo of the innards shows the connections, thanks.
My assumption was right!

So to make the supply from that stat permanently on, you join the red to the brown sleeved yellow.

If you want to make a trial connection (after turning the mains off!), you could remove that little black (or is it brown) link altogether, and put the yellow wire in the same terminal as the red. Then put the faceplate back. The stat won't do anything any more as its no longer got a live supply.

Hi ,
That’s perfect thank you I really appreciate the time you have taken to help 🙏

Thanks
Jake
