Hi i wonder if anyone can offer some advice, Im 30 an interested in becoming an electrician, i keen to get into the commercial/industrial side of things eventually.

I did 10 years in Electronics with an electronics avionics company (4 years were an apprenticeship) and have and NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Technical Services, also an ONC + HNC Electrical/Electronic Engineering.

I want to gain my electrical qualifications on evening or day release if possible and I’m prepared to pay for it myself if necessary as I’m currently just doing Facilities Maintenance at a big factory working for a friends company with no real prospects.

Should i just start evening course at a local collage as an adult student and get my City and Guilds without an employer, or maybe try and contact some local companies see if they will take me on as an adult trainee.

Anyone have any ideas how to get into the game at my age, i can’t really afford to drop to really low apprentice wages at my age due to commitments but an really keen to be an electrician.

Thanks for any advice
