It was also very very common
I have been ripping some of it out since the late sixties lol

It's VIR wiring in wooden casing. They used this way to run it around door frames and skirtings.

it definitely shows that electricians of the past were also skilled carpenter's

New one on me. Seen plenty VIR cables but never in wooden casing like this. Proper job that !

ive seen one with wood female bushes and bends on copper pipe with the old ceramic ceiling roses but not in use, just left after a previous rewire

The house in question is a big place near West Park in Wolves. Owner didnt want to keep it, I did!
