Hi guys got a question to ask:

In Scotland for reference.

My mate recently bought a house and he is wanting me to do an EICR, new Consumer Unit, new shower and extra sockets. I have been qualified for almost 3 years, however I am not approved. My question is can I carry out this work myself and just get the company I work for that is Select registered to sign it off? I’m asking this for my sake and for the sake of my mate, I don't want him landed in hot water if it turns out the EICR and Minor Works certificates are not valid because it wasn't the company itself who carried out the work.

Would appreciate a response so I can get this cleared up :)

A new consumer unit and shower circuit require an EIC.

Do Select allow 3rd party certification? I'm reasonably sure this is a "no" according to letter of rules.

So anyone else signing it off would have to be willing to pretend they did it themselves. Risky for them, what is in it for them?

In that case an apprentice can not work without someone watching them complete every terminal and connection, pointless.
