Hi All, Im doing a job for a friend of mine who has a raft of brand new gu10 downlights still in boxes which hes dug out of his loft.

As a member of the Niceic, I have already mentioned that they could do with being fire rated.

12 of them are to be installed in a flat roof with no habitable living upstairs, They are also in a drop down bulkhead pelmet as he has got a idea from a magazine to make drop drown plasterered squares on the ceiling with lights in them......dont ask????

I told him also to go with led gu10s as the are cheap to run and give off no heat.

He also want s to put some in the upstairs bedrooms also.

Am I right in saying this might be ok as there is no habitable space above and if he uses led lamps?

To be honest if it wasnt a mate id tell him to shove his cheap down lights and put some descent ones in.

Your thoughts please.

If no 1 living above they ok is what I take from it.
