Howdy to you All, it is nice to be here and hope to add to this community. (Even though I joined for advise)

I wish to introduce myself. I have done all the work around our home since we purchased it and in our rentals (22). I am fortunate that the earlier code allowed me to do my own work, as without that we could not afford to have the work done by tradesmen. I have practical experience in home electronics, plumbing, hardwood floors, tile, and linoleum, laminate, hanging cupboards, window glazing, fencing, and window treatments. Just recently our city has made it almost impossible for home owners to work on their homes, as they must sign a statement that they are not planning to sell their home or rent them to others for a minimum of 24 months.

I was an Industrial Arts major at Western Washington University. I took metals, wood, and plastics. The other area of study was graphics where I took photography, screen printing, tv, and type setting. I love to work with my hands and produce something that has value in it being done. I am careful with how and where I work. I have done this type of work for over 50 years. I learned to have confidence and to "go for it" from my dad— an Air Force lifer who grew up as a lumberman's kid, on a property with a mill in Republic, WA, that his dad and brothers and brothers-in-law all worked at. He told me stories of using the Clydesdale horses as gym toys, climbing their legs, sliding on their backs, etc. while they stood resting from pulling logs from one place to another.

I have always wished this type of platform had existed in the 60's and 70's when I was younger, who knows I might have been an electrical engineer or a certified electrician. But I'm not and I am happy to learn at the knee of someone who is. I hope I can add an occasional gem to the conversations.
