measurement aborted

has anyone come across this problem trying to do a ze test on a garage. fed from a 40a mcb in 17th edition board and keep getting test aborted.The tester is a metrel mI3000 any suggestions greatly appreicated ?

It will not be a Ze test your doing but a Zs/Zdb test.

Normally tests have the aborted error on the meter if

1. There is noise on the circuit
2. Poor connections
3. Wrong connection, ie trying to do a 3 lead test with 2 leads
4. Batteries

Have you checked all above

Also in a dead test scenario if you had voltage on the circuit, ie as in an IR test, but your test should be a live one

It often happens, if your probes are not in good contact with the conductors.
Is it possible to use croc clips?

It will also abort the test if the touch voltage on the Earthing rises above the pre-set parameter, this is usually set for 50V, but some testers (mine can) can also be set for 25V, so check this setting is correct at 50V.

Iam not familiar with your MFT, so cannot help with the setting up.

Just to add, even if your meter is set correctly but the earthing is inadequate, this may rise above 50V and abort the test, also make sure your test leads have a good connection.

thanks for all the advice. After checking all the connections back to the board was informed there was abox thing behind the washing machine turned out to be an isolator for the garage several tight connections later bingo it works.
