Also if you are using flexible cable, the fine stranded stuff. The ends must be terminated with suitable ferrules/crimps to stop the copper creeping.

There is a reg number for this, I can't remember off the top of my head though.

That's more like what I was looking for.
To me that is saying 100W max and must be controlled by a PIR.

It says "light fittings controlled manually by occupant".

which to me says a PIR or photocell isn't required as long as the light has a switch.

But 100W? I thought it was 150W?

I am refering to the link in post 25. The link you have has been blocked due to possible virus. Don't you just love works computers.

[h=2]Part L Security Lights[/h]
A range of security lights to comply with Part L of the Building Regulations. This requires the light fitting to have either a lamp which does not exceed 150 watts and that the light automatically switches off when there is enough daylight (photocell fitted) or when it is not required at night (PIR). A light fitting that has a lamp holder that can only be used with lamps having an efficiency grater than 45 lumen's per circuit watt is also compliant, i.e. a compact fluorescent lamp with separate ballast or uses a LED light source.

Don't get me wrong I am sure the planning portal document stating 100W is more accurate than a website selling larger lights lol
