My parents have just had their shower replaced. Its powered via a switched fused spur outside the bathroom. Problem im getting is the water pipes that go into it have 12v running though them when its switched on. Anyone got any ideas? could it be a problem from somewhere else in the house?

between what points are you finding 12v

A shower on a FCU? what KW rating is it..? Hows that working then?
If you have voltage across water pipes you need to get the bonding up to scratch.. if the voltage is only on the pipes when just the shower is switched on i'd get the shower circuit tested..

Sid; it'll be a power shower, (hot & cold water feed).

Anonomoose, as Sid has already intimated it will likely be an earth fault and I would;
( i) check all connections within the shower.
(ii) Change the FCU for an RCD type (if, as i suspect, the circuit is not already protected by an rcd)
(iii) check and if necessary upgrade the main protective bonding
(iv) check and if necessary upgrade the supplementary bonding
(v) Issue a minor works cert .
