Re: soke and heat detectors

i was told i cant screw straight on the the ceiling i have to come off a galv steel kind of inspection bend?? any one of this?

Can you expand on what you are working on,where, and the "category" and grade of system that you are inquiring about
Much more info req

Are you talking about domestic heat and smoke alarms ?

i have to come off a galv steel kind of inspection bend
A conduit system ?

Either way, when you have seen these detectors fitted previously, where were they sited, and who gave you that information

the collage teacher i have only seen them screwd to the ceiling. tbh i dont know what he was on about thts why i thought u lot might know what he is on about

Are we talking about conduit boxes here ?? like angle boxes, through boxes and the like??. As far as i'm aware, if the wiring for the FA system isn't in steel conduit then there's no need for a conduit box of any description.

It is surely down to the requirements of the wiring system and how they terminate into the detectors that determine if some sort of back box is required or not....

Perhaps he was talking about minimum distance off a wall and setting it out or something or other
Your description, if accurate, mean his teachings are alien to any knowlege I have

What is the wiring system?
