Hi Guys

Can anyone please tell me which is best?
A west system or split east-west system.
Both would be of about 3.5 kw.

Many thanks

P.S. Best being better performing, not easiest to install.

I would suggest that it depends on the situation. Are both sides of the split unshaded? Is one side more shaded than the other? If one roof space received more shading than the other then I'd fit the whole system to the least shaded side.

Next I would consider the premises. An east/west split would behave differently to a system fitted to just the east or the west. Would the premises more likely be occupied in the morning or the evening? An east/west split should in theory produce electricity for a longer time, yet not reach the 3.5kWp peak as long as either the east or west installations.

Hi, thanks.

No shade on either side of roof.
Property is to be rented so tricky to predict living patterns however the owner has just decided to run the new house electric supply as a sub meter from the house next door which he also owns and rents out (making things even more complicated) so both properties will benefit from the install.

You have to consider that an east/west split will be more expensive (scaffold, possibly more expensive inverter)

I am looking for company to quote me for a domestic installation in Ludlow. Dual aspect east/west roofs. Modern terrace house with slate roofs, 32 degrees pitch. Looking for black panels/rails/fixings 2kw on each roof face. Something like in total 16 REC 250PE(blk) or 21 Shott perform mono 190's but any other suitable panel would be considered. I would prefer to use Aurora/Power-One PVI-3.0 OUTD which should easily handle the 4kw of power especially considering there will be a lower midday peak compared with a due south installation. Please contact me if you can quote me on this work.
