My old hard wired 30 amp oven blew just before Christmas. I bought a new 13 amp one. In order to get it up and running for Christmas I hard wired it into the 30amp circuit. All kitchen wiring and consumer unit were renewed just under 30 years ago.
There is a 13 amp single socket next to the cooker switch under the worktop which runs the ignition for the gas hob.
Question which is the best option;
a) Leave it as it is
b) Change the breaker in the CC to a 13 amp one, keeping the oven hard wired to the heavy duty cable back to the CC
c) Change the socket to a double and use that. It will be a tight fit as the existing socket just fits between the side of the cupboard and the switch for the oven.
d) Anything else ?
