Any kewtech KT63 owners here? I see kewtech offer an upgrade to the 63DL so it can do type A rcds, they change the circuit board and facia, just wondering what it cost and if you think it was worth it vs buying a new tester?

Think Metrel have won the right to be respected. I have one and sang it's praises on an earlier post. Like the price too.

If you rebadged the Metrel meters as Fluke or Megger they would sell, a lot of people will buy the known brand name rather than look at the spec of what they are buying.
When I went to college there were whole in depth lessons on choosing the correct and best meter for the task in hand something which I doubt is taught these days

Not sure, could always email them, they got back to me, as no KT63DL in stock at kewtech until april/may. Cost of upgrade of the KT63 is £195 + vat and £10 post ?

Metrel MI3000, lasted about 7 years from new but now has an intermittent fault on the navigation button, probably on the PCB.
Replaced with another preloved MI3000 whilst deciding on the next one.

exactly same as me.. had it repaired about 2 yrs ago and still ok after 9 yrs.
I also have a metrel 3125 as aback up but rarely used..

Are we the only country to use MF testers ?

I have spoken to sparks from America , Canada , New Zealand , Australia , Greece and Spain non of which use a MF back home

I didn't have one until I came to the UK. My meters were Megger Combination IR/OHM meter, RCD tester, Current Clamp and Fluke DMM. Kit was used for maintenance, installation testing and pat testing

I have always wondered what goes on in the brains of the people who sign off the cases at megger etc ! have they never ever thought "Di-log " and "Fluke" really have done a much better job. I would sack them all .The good cases must be bought in for about £5 a case max. So why not just supply a good case ? !!

I have noticed that when doing a no-trip loop test with my fluke 1662, sometimes it will trip an RCD but then after reseting the RCD (no other changes) it doesn't trip again, I wonder if the fluke adjusts the current it uses for the test if it knows it tripped the RCD the first time round

To be fair the posts reads 'dodger', not 'codger', even if 'dodger' was meant as a truncation of 'coffin dodger', is it offensive, I mean really? I can't see how it can be taken as such, And so what of you're playing limbo with the reaper's scythe, what is it of anyone elses problem? I mean you're being commended for not having carked it, not that the people is wishing you dead, the latter of course would likely offend.

This has to be better than the insensitive moment some have when they have not been operated for some time .. ( Or should THAT insensitivity be the fail )

MFT is a multi function tester
DMM is a digital multimeter
I was commenting on the fact that I have had both. I once took on the mighty Fluke company when I sent my IR temperature meter for calibration and it came back with certificate saying at 100 degrees it read 96 and at 0 degrees it read -4 degrees.
I boiled some water in a pot and it read 100 degrees then stirred melting ice in another pot and it read 0 degrees. I contacted them inviting their response to my findings and they said they would be coming down to where I lived in a few days and could I meet them there.
When they arrived they unloaded some kit and tested my thermometer again and the readings confirmed my results. They looked puzzled, so I pointed out I was at sea level and their company was in Johannesburg, 1,700 metres above sea level.
I asked them to send me another calibration certificate showing that my thermometer was reading correctly and they did.
They offered to sell me a high end calibration kit, but I declined saying that I understand the relationship between specific gravity and temperature, and had a pot to check my IR thermometer with.
This is an Electrician teaching school science to representatives from a respected international company.

The 3-wire fault loop impedance is a great test meter for sockets

Is it all 2-wire loop testing now or is 3 wire still used
