2 groups of light on 1 PIR

Did a search but couldnt find any answer please forgive me if this has already been covered.

So im looking to install 2 groups of outdoor lights

1. To illuminate the patio area
2. To illuminate along the path

I am planning to wire each group through a centre off grid switch and would like to use one PIR to operate them automatically but would also like to switch override them independently of each other.

I would supply permanent live to both L1's and the PIR
Then link the both L2's to the switch line of the PIR
Then supply each group of lights from the Common of the corresponding switch?

switch in position 1 lights on
switch in position 2 (centre) lights off
switch in position 3 lights auto (switched by PIR)

This will all be wired in t&e/3c&e and neutrals and earths terminated/wago'd as appropriate

Is there any reason why this wouldnt work or should not be done?

It sounds reasonable enough.

What I would suggest is you have a 3rd switch to isolate the lot so you can actually power off the "permanent live" if it is ever needed, even just for testing, etc. More so if this is not from a dedicated circuit from your CU.

One other point is T&E is not really suited to outdoor use as UV light degrades it over many years. Not a problem if you are planing on some conduit/trunking to tidy the wires up, otherwise you might want to look at H07RN-F rubber cable, or NYY-J, etc, that is outdoor rated.

Just wanting to get the concept sorted was planing on running the external cables in SWA so all good.

Don't know about a third switch though will just isolate the breaker if needed

I quite like the idea of DP isolation for outside lights in case of water ingress causing the RCD to let go.

To be fair though where I live is near enough under water for 6 months of the year.
