About 70 quid per circuit. There is a need to run a data cable in to each box too to control the relays. The control box goes at the end of line of each circuit, and does the cross connection of the line and CPC... It does the figure of eight on the rings too, which is pretty good. I think it's a couple of hundred quid for the control module point at each distribution board too, plus a few hundred quid for the unit that plugs into the point... It's a good idea, but all that is done are the tests, and I think too much reliance will be put on test measurements instead of inspection which will show the faults. It is a good system, and I have seen it trialled in their mock up installation. For existing installations I think it's a no go, but new installs (big commercial/industrial) I think it could be viable.

We're hopefully getting one of our sites to be a demo site for it soon in London, so we'll see what happens then....

Not followed the links but the posts seem to suggest that this is simply remotely monitored predictive maintenance techniques applied to fixed wiring installations old hat really for the predictive maintenance brigade, sorry!

I have a copy of the 17th Amd 1 and there are HUGE changes in it. The Schedule of inspection for a PIR, now called an electrical installation condition report, is 7 pages long.

All the pages or text that have changed are in Red text and the whole document is a sea of red!. There are 210 extra pages so we will be carrying our regs in a wheelbarrow! Why would it have a "Green" cover if it uses so much paper?

The Amendment has not yet been published. That was simply the Draft for Public Comment and is not British Standard 7671 (IEE Wiring Regulations / Requirements for Electrical Installations).
