Evening all
I went to quote a job a few days ago. On a TT system and an old Contactum board no RCD protection.
Client wants power to her garden building.
Now the OCPD and the leg supplying the building don't need RCD protection. A new DB will be installed in the GB and an earth rod.
Do I need to do anything with the House DB? I'm not working on any circuits that require RCD protection, on the face of it the earthing arrangements seem in order pending testing.

Why doesn't the leg need rcd protection does the existing protective device provide adequate fault protection.

Im assuming being a TT system that the earth fault loop impedance will not be achieved to the shed. This being the case how are you going to achieve fault protection without RCD.

You saying that has just made it land in my brain, I was having a serious case of writers block.
As it's a TT system the OCPD won't provide FP as it won't meet the disconnection time thus the RCD requirement is needed for fault protection..... blimey lol
You use far too many acronyms.
