IMHO its one of those areas where the regs certainly suggest RCD's would be required but in all honesty its also one of those areas where the sparky who works by the rules may miss out on work by appling them.
Its like checking and upgrading the equipotential bonding - something many customers see as us trying to rip them off!

you are right mate, it seems that the cowboys get all the work. customers dont see this, all they see is a smaller bill, they dont take into account that you've complied with the regs as they dont understand them.
As the title asks do alterations to a kitchen circuit need to be rcd protected??
