Hi All
I'm rewiring my mates new house as a favour next week (so you'll have to do without the pleasure of my company!)
He has expressed an interest in solar but can't afford it (He's a bit of an eco warrior!)
I said I would look into installing a free system for him, naturally I would take the FiT.
I have never installed a free system, and, given the drop in rates for multiple systems probably never will again!!
As such I don't really want the expense of drawing up a contract but, although we have been good mates for over 25years, I feel a contract is in everyones interest.
Does anyone out there have a contract maybe they could send me a copy of? PM me if you do and I'll send you my email address.
much appreciated

Sorry, I shared some information with moggy because I can see who he is, I cannot send out legal documents out to everyone on the forum as it will take the work away from those who write them.

Although there is an element of gain there it is not for major commercial gain so as a favour on this one occasion I have provided some assistance, there is still other documentation required for land registry and mortgage attachment.

If you want all the legals done for you then you could try a company like Qcas they can be a bit slower than funders would like but may be good for single jobs, that is if they get involved in single jobs.

Moggy, you must get some sort of legal doc in place, as this will protect both you and your friend in the future, what happens if your friend sells the house, or what happens if you peg out, will your children take over the FITs etc.
If it is set out in writing, and you both understand it, then whatever happens you will still remain mates.
Just my opinion.

We did the same for one of my mates. Contracts are needed for a variety of reasons. Mortgage lender is going to want to make sure everything is kosher.

I sent him a lease contract which is water tight as it is officially used with free solar, it will need a witness and for a couple of quid it may me worth signing in front of a solicitor, most solicitors see this as beer tokens so £10 to £15 for five minutes of his / her time.

I agree and did mention that in a prior post along with land registry as he is not actually leasing the roof just the air space above the roof.

many thanks for all the input chaps. Looks abit more complex than I initially thought, but as you all agree, even for long standing mates, worth it for both parties.
