I have been thinking of putting a fluorescent light up in the loft and running it off a plug, so i went to b&q and bought a fluorescent electronic batten as it was very light and slim to the others b&q sold. So now i have bought it i'm thinking i should have bought the normal fluorescent light but before i take the wrapping off will it still give a good light as the others and will i still be able to wire a plug up to it.

you should be ok with a plug in it. make sure you use flex, not T/E and fit a 3A fuse in the plug.

One tip, do get a 20mm gland and some flex to do a proper job of it

spot on for a loft, screw it onto one of the overhead wooden beams, use white 3 core flex and a 20mm stuffing Gland, if you don't have a stuffing gland (plastic type) message me an address to use and I will post a couple of 20mm Glands and some heatshrink out to you by 1st class post...

Hi,
Too big? If it won't fit through the hole, have you tried undoing the nut and just passing the threaded section through the hole, sorry to ask a simple question. You can get them M12 M14 M16.

If it won't tighten down onto the cable when you tighten it up then you can get them with a smaller internal hole. If your supplier won't help farnell will.
