Can you please confirm that in your diagram, one of the cables entering has TWO brown wires (or one brown and one sleeved brown) and they both go to that terminal?

In my experience, an artist's impression of wiring can leave out some essential details. It can often be what is believed to be in place but not really.

Best bet is to post a photo of the actual wiring to the junction box.

It looks like brown twin might have been used in one of those photos, the one where the cables are hanging out of the ceiling.
