New member here. I have a BS in Electronics Engineering Technology so I have some background in electricity theory. I have been doing DIY residential electrical work for several years. Joined here to expand my electrical knowledge. Thanks for having me.

You will find lots of us here that pretend to know a few things about electricity.
welcome aboard,
if you ask a question you are almost never going to be left hanging without an answer.
light humour is encouraged as is cheesecake!!

Welcome to the forum!

....

A BS in engineering you say, what does the BS stand for😄 Anyway even if it does stand for what I am thinking there's plenty of it on here and welcome of course.

Hi, I'm also new, same I've got a BEng in Electronic and Computer Engineering. Switched career 1 year ago to install renewable tech, saving the planet.

Electrics has been easy, 2πfC @50Hz is as complex as the L3 course got. It's more about bickering about regs, and struggling to understand how to be qualified

Welcome to the club... Ive got a BSc (hons)... and for the uneducated among you... thats Bachelor of Science, with Honours😝

The theory in university and the practical on the job is like chalk and cheese.... Alright, the numbers and the equations all add up (see what i did there) but installing things like renewables... you got to first become an electrician, then specialise, then pay over the odds again for a little certificate to say you can... even though you may know a ton more than the people issuing the certificate...

Then renew all the certificates after a number of years... and BS7671 every new issue...

Why did i become an electrician again?

Good achievement that. You should be proud of it. I did my HND, but dropped out of the degree after the first year as I was struggling with the maths

You have a BSc in engineering? It was BEng for us in 2005.

I left outside broadcast engineering to start a net zero installation company, Every "qualification" I have sat through since has had a 100% pass rate, with classmates you wouldn't let hold a screwdriver. Yet joining a CPS or MCS scheme is insanely complex
