Hi when filling out a e.i.c. and it asks for maximum demand, is that the size of cut out fuse or does it mean working out all loads on circuits using diversity, shows what 2 yrs at college taught us.

I think 2 years at college is more than enough to remember how to calculate maximum diversity properly let alone understanding the correct way to fill your EIC's. I think what you meant to say, if we are a little more honest, is:

"shows what sitting in the pub for 2 years playing pool, losing my cash on the fruities, trying to bang that 6/10 barmaid and talking about how rubbish crystal palace are, when I should of been in college did for me"

I just want to say that 6/10 is nothing to be scoffed at by the way. Rule of thumb says that after getting an average regarding your own score, say you were a respectable 7 after all your pals had agreed... and you want to know the lowest you can go for that is socially acceptable, and wont result in horrific banter for years to come. you take your score, double it, divide by 3, and thats your bottom line. If you chase anything lower than that, then your basically just a massive pig charmer.

Just wanted to throw that out there in case anyone was wondering.

Before any of the lady folk on here get the hump, same rules apply. It's a unisex method of selection.....just sayin

If you want a rough idea (not saying this is the correct way) you can add up all the breaker sizes and times by 0.4.
i.e 2 x 6amp +1 x 16amp + 2 x 32amp add them all up = 92 x 0.4 = 36.8 amps Maximum Demand

Can you explain the logic behind that for me

I retract my questioning. After doing some quick research on this method... it appears to almost be an industry standard way of achieving a ball park figure.

No one seems to have a proper answer as to why this is "acceptable" even the OSG doesn't have a good answer. So fair enough! Easy maths is good maths

Diversity and cookers.

When they’re all turned off, they won't be on.
When they’re all turned on occasionally all could be on or they could all be off.
When they’re all not turned off some may be off and some may be on.
When some are turned on, of the ones turned on some could be off. The ones turned off won’t be on.

Does that clear it up?

Thanks for that Wade. My life is now the richer and it explains why I have been batting above my average :)

Your very welcome pal. Sometimes it's nice to work out how much above your average you've been batting, take another average, and add the difference to your average, giving you your new revised average after years of slaying it at the upper levels of alpha male-ism.

So it goes like this:

wimpy 1
terrible 2
could be better 3
feeble 4
down the line 5
steady 6
silky 7
corrrrrr mate! must be an... 8
Naughty 9
Get your pants off 10

So find where you sit on my chart. Lets say your a steady 6 to keep it simple. But your a real man amongst the meat. a true butcher. you can pork up a chop like a morrisons professional. And manage to bring home the bacon that some might say was a tidy 8. You pull this off regularly enough, your average climbs along with your ever inflating ego.

Difference between 6 and 8 is 2. Average of 2 is 1. Add 1 to your steady 6, Richy my friend, in the words of Pokemon you just evolved from a Richy, to a Richyzard, and are now a silky 7. Keep climbing that average ladder, and you never know, we might all end up with our pants off. know what i mean.

I am NOT a chauvinist.... i swear.

Haha...very good!
Come on wady, what's your score?
I'm not confessing though, it's embarrassing! :-)

I can't give myself a score. You can see my face. You have to let the world decide your average mate. It's the rules. Obviously if i was being modest, I'd just say around 9.8....but....you know. Modesty has always been getting in my way

Intellect....why on earth would you be scoring girls on their intellect. Are you LOOKING to cause unbalance in the world. I think i remember seeing that scribed onto one of the Mayan scripts prior to their dooms day prediction.

"In 2012/2012, man will begin to judge the attractiveness of females...via their intellect...the world will be no more"

It means using diversity, but there seems to be some debate on here as to which diversity to use. The OSG method is one, this seems to give quite a high max demand sometimes compared to the other method of x0.4. See below:

View attachment DNO guidelines on Max demand - GOOD.pdf

ps.. some will say your max demand is just whatever your cut out fuse is as in theory that is the max demand your system can take. I think this is cheating!!

If you have been to college you should have an IEE On Site Guide, If you have not got one...Buy one....It tells you how to work it out in there..the correct way that the IEE use

Remember where it asks for the supply fuse rating you write down whats on it dont pull the service fuse to find out.lol
