Have just registered for above scheme and a a question has arisen.

The fact I am registering now suggests I have not been registered until now, so my work has not been going through building control and instead I have got someone to sign it off (family member who is registered)

So I have no paperwork (paper trail) to suggest my work has been getting signed off by a building control body (local council, NIC, Napit ect)

Will the NIC assessor expect me to show proof of notifying building control. Or will he accept a "yeah i always tell the council" and leave it at that?

Oh don't, I know ignorance isn't an excuse but I followed a different logic. And thought no more of it.

If I were to be standing in a court for dodgy work and then claimed that I hadn't told anyone about the work I would say that I am qualified and deemed the competent person so what does it matter who I tell?

I was unaware I had to get permission. No one told me, they were more concerned about making sure I knew what I was doing with the wires not how I conducted by business in the eyes of the law!

Yeah got all my certificates, and happy fault free customers... But no evidence from anyone to say that building control is happy. The NIC member that has signed work off for me who I worked for for many years has got certificates from the installations I have done (for the record it's only about 4) as I sub alot

I doubt he'll care, just make sure your name is on the certs for the assessment jobs.

As pencil pusher says, as long as you show him your test certs for the jobs he will be happy, only certain jobs are notifiable for part p which building control wish to be told of.

I've got a few certs to do by the 4th July for my own re-assessment. Funny how many jobs have only just completed in the last few days..
