Doing a refurb on shop. customer wants photocell switch for signage with timer i.e. dusk on, midnight off. I've had a trawl, and they all look a bit domestic, backlit sign is approx. 8Mx1M lots of tubes, will get the spec. tommorow, Any ideas? money doesn't seem a big issue, but He wants some numbers£££.
Cheers

The best photocells are Royce Thompson or Zodion. They both do part-night versions - eg. on 35lux, off midnight, on 0530, off 70lux.
Best timeclocks if going for serparates are Sangamo round pattern.

I have used a timer to bring on the power to a photocell at say 4pm and off at 9pm.
The light will come on for a short period until the photocell kicks the light off during daylight.
I if money isn't a problem I would suggest a contractor, that way they can add more lights if required without much worry about overloading the photocell

Rather have the all in one if poss. I'm taking it over from Spaghetti Western Electrical & co. and it's going to take a day to mark the cables up, "keep it simple, stupid" as my old boss was fond of saying.
Cheers

seen lots of signage have time clock supplying sign and standard photocell kit outside next to sign simple easy to maintain
check time clock is happy with inductive load if big sign and lots of flo's inside

Some timers and photocells are a bit jumpy with fluorescent loads, even if they are well under their rating.

Stick a contactor in and you can put whatever you like!
