Hi there...
I've been doing some minor electrical works (changing socket faceplates etc) plus installing some Cat6 so have had the floorboards up and noticed a couple go things that I'm pretty sure are not compliant with current regs. I understand that this is not necessarily 'an issue' (leaving any actual safety aspects for the moment) if they were compliant with the regs that were in place at the time of installation.

However, one old round junction box is broken (probably was when installed) and with wires partially exposed - so this needs to be replaced for safety reasons - but this JB sits on the ring (v. certain of this, I can see / trace the cables and test continuity), and has two spurs from it to two sockets (1No. to a 1G socket, 1No. to a 2G socket) - and one of these sockets then has additional spurs from it. Note all of these spur cables are buried in the wall, so not v accessible.

Obvs the JB needs to be replaced to make it safe - but presumably (a) it's not appropriate to simply replicate what's there using e.g. Wagos (given the spurs from spurs) - i.e. by intervening it needs to be brought up to current standards; (b) it would need a fused spur added; and (c) it's not legal (?) for a DIYer to do this, as you're adding a circuit? (although I'm not sure I'm using 'circuit' correctly here).

Elsewhere, a spur with 5 sockets on it has been taken from a round JB on the ring (this JB fairly old but no damage). It would be fairly simple to bring this spur back to a socket already on the ring - but again, I don't think this is a permitted DIY job if you're basically altering / adding a circuit....? (plus the length of cable probably starts to get close to 50m...).

Have some circuit diagrams if it'd help...

Adding a circuit implies a new cable from the consumer unit, so you are not adding a circuit, just a circuit alteration and unless in a 'special location' which require notification you are quite entitled to carry out the alterations.
Complying with the regs regarding 'spurs', you seem to be aware that not more than one outlet can be spurred from a ring and that more than one requires protection by a s/fcu.
I don't have copy of regs at home but someone on here might and something like Appendix 14,15,or 16 provides details for compliance.
If unsure please employ a local sparks.
