not sure but is that the limit switches that i am pointing out , company says the door needs a new motor , when i try and open the door that unit keeps buzzing and flashing , would a faulty motor cause it to do that or could it just be that unit thats faulty

That's an overload. What your pointing at is the auxiliary contacts. It may well be that the motor is faulty, have you tested it?

Do you have anyone that would be willing to help you on this job. As it stands I think your out of your depth with this job. There maybe a number of problems, the motor may be faulty if so why? The overload may have gone faulty again if so why?

I'd be more than willing to show you if I could watch what you were doing, talking you through a job like this on a forum is something I'm not willing to do.

i had one like this where the phases were wrong way and controls had 400 through them but i would walk away and save your own life by the sound of it, and take your screwdriver with you

thanks for the concern lads , i actually ment to write overload , just wasnt sure if it was ment to go off with such a bang i asumed if the motor was faulty it would have took the fuse out

Is this a new instal or an existing or re sited one that has gone bad?
Have you tested the motor windings for IR and continuity?
Can you manually wind it to the mid point?

The overload should trip first assuming it's been set very close to the Full load current of the motor.
If it gets to blowing the fuse or MCB it's too late

A simple F/R starter. You give no meaningful information.

I despair I really do. A wet behind the ears apprentice would have that rattled off in a few minutes.

Do they? whats the problem then?

called to the job to fit commando sockets for 3 new motors first 2 i went too had a phase down so i traced it and fixed it the doors where working fine no need for new motors , so i thought i would have a gander a the last one incase it was something simple , am not the type of guy that gives up and walks away so i took a motor off the other door and tried it and it worked so they where right about the last door , JOB DONE ( saved the company £1800 )

only thing i learned was not to ask for a bit of help on here :-)

Ok....but 230v and ignorance don't mix....so what about 400v.....I despair!
