Just been back to a job that I upgraded the DB in and water bonding in November to find the plumber that's fitted a new boiler has cut my bonding to the water main. Now I've got to run the whole lot again FFS.
I thought about crimp but was not sure if it was ok under the regs as it is not continuous?
/QUOTE]
THAT would depend on how good you are at crimping!!
BUT if you're in any doubt, solder it .. and it WILL be continuous.
Ha I think I can crimp or solder well enough. You learn something new everyday cheers guys saves me a headache.

thats why i like soldiered joints.i'd use a non-insulated butt crimp and cover with a bit of gn/y heat shrink. i'd probably forget to slide the h/s on first and have to cut and re-crimp, thought.
depends on the solder. Not done properly, then.
Morning Mark. :santa3:
you're correct, biff. it's geordie not took his senility pills.
The solder in soldered joints is to prevent oxidation.
The joint should be electrically and mechanically sound before soldering.
Is crimp on lugs any good bolted togethet, or is that clsssed as not continues as can be un done ???
because he crimps then solders, in that case it is a waste of solder. What makes you think that???
i always thought MDJ's first name was mike ??
well im not writing out another xmas card so he'll just have to remain as mike till next year.

...Know what yer mean...i do it all the time, put me crash-helmet on,and realise i've forgot me polo-neck jumper :conehead:not nearly as many times as i've wired up a flex and lighting click plug to realise i've not slid the domed cover on first....
im a clutz.

through crimps are made of copperbecause he crimps then solders, in that case it is a waste of solder.
if i crimp a cable they are tight together then solder to hold it together.
much better readings than using a steel through crimp
the solder just holds it together and your not moving it when the solder cools
