Just been back to a job that I upgraded the DB in and water bonding in November to find the plumber that's fitted a new boiler has cut my bonding to the water main. Now I've got to run the whole lot again FFS.

f#€king plumbers!!!

I thought about crimp but was not sure if it was ok under the regs as it is not continuous?

THAT would depend on how good you are at crimping!!

BUT if you're in any doubt, solder it .. and it WILL be continuous.

i'd use a non-insulated butt crimp and cover with a bit of gn/y heat shrink. i'd probably forget to slide the h/s on first and have to cut and re-crimp, thought.

Not done properly, then.
depends on the solder.

my soldering iron goes a lot hotter than the temerature to melt the solder.

so of course i can take it off

solder melts around 300oC ish for lead solder

Is crimp on lugs any good bolted togethet, or is that clsssed as not continues as can be un done ???

The solder in soldered joints is to prevent oxidation.

The joint should be electrically and mechanically sound before soldering.

you're correct, biff. it's geordie not took his senility pills.

What makes you think that???
because he crimps then solders, in that case it is a waste of solder.

if i crimp a cable they are tight together then solder to hold it together.

much better readings than using a steel through crimp

the solder just holds it together and your not moving it when the solder cools

My god how many times I have done that, it's a bit like glancing swa, I cut it and splay it all then realise I've not put the hood on it.

not nearly as many times as i've wired up a flex and lighting click plug to realise i've not slid the domed cover on first....
im a clutz.
