Sorry, But im a newbie to domestics.

Can Twin and earth be clipped to the brick work of a wall and then be plastered over? Or does it always have to be in capping?

Using ordinary cable clips.....

Ok... thanks, what do you find the best method for fastening oval capping to a wall?

Check the reg's regarding protection , and defined cable routes

the internet is such a powerful tool, you can google diagrams on all sorts of wiring etc, even zones etc ,top hat capping and oval conduit need only be run in certain areas although it is good practise to use everywhere because of dopey diyers drilling everywhere, having said that it does not hold back an sds drill bit,im on a rewire at the mo and have run a leg of ring main up/over and down under floor so as not to go from ceiling(part concrete floor) i could just see a big bang when an 8ft picture was hung on wall.

Always run mine in with 20mm PVC conduit, doesn't offer anymore protection than oval or capping does , but looks pretty good and no grommet to worry about.:)

Surely a grommit is easier to fit than chasing out 20mm deep up a wall?
I agree it would look good, but who would see it after mr plaster man kindly skimmed the wall?

personal preference and I know it's there even once it been plastered over :D I always like to think someone will come around afterwards and say to themselves he did a good job on this and remark to the customer, I know the flip side to this is they would probably think waste of time and no point but it's just how I like doing it. Every man has his own way of doing a job;)

Thats what makes the world go round.

Do you use conduit saddlers aswell?

Have tried using Crampet fixings they work quite well but you have to go a little deep to get them below the surface. Usually use two screws either side of the conduit and get the heads to nip it in I use Orbix Pan heads they have large heads that overlap the conduit quite nicely.
