Just fit some +90% etc type bulbs, examples here

Modern vehicle electrics are built down to price so higher wattage bulbs can damage wiring, switches etc. as well as the headlight reflector is not designed to cope with the extra heat produced. On top of that 100W bulbs are illegal for on-road use!

believe it or not they aren't the only reference to lamp wattages in the lighting regs refers to rear lamps which states"no lamp fitted to the rear of a vehicle may exceed 21watts.Valid point about the wiring though,it's about half what it used to be.

Ive got some osram nightbrakers. There lower wattage than that though in my car and £14 for the pair

Dunno about that Phil, did you ever see the wiring ribbons in Morris Marinas and Austin Alergics, good old BLMC.

Boydy

did the full HID conversion on my astra van for the ( slightly not MOT compliant ) win !
lol.
2 Ballasts , wiring harnesses and lamps around 50 notes
theyre around 300% brighter than the equivolent halogens , would never go back now - the standard lights were woeful.

Ditto,Biff, did the conversion on my old Patrol and considering repeat on latest. As long as kit is decent quality,it is a vast upgrade. Also, have replaced ALL the interior lights in EVERY vehicle i have had in last 20 years,to LED,1.2w swopped for rubbish battery killing dull 10w,plus,door switches function even if mangy...

Have a look at the osram nightbreakers.
