Hey,
Just seeing what peoples personal preference is really.
If you were to install a 7.2kw Induction hob and a 4kw double oven, would you prefer to put them both on the same cooker switch with a dual outlet or 2 separate circuits.
The worse case scenario is 47 amps total but less with...
Hi,
Are ceramic hobs prone to problems with RCD's when the hob is a few years old?
I changed a board yesterday, despite a couple of minor problems, when the lady (nearly 90) went to put her dinner on, as soon as she turns any ring on it trips the RCD... I felt bad to be honest.
I am going...
Got a ceramic electrical hob with 4 rings. All add up to 6kw. The only instructions for installation are
"For UK only
A Switched Fused Connection Unit to BS 1363 Part 4 is
recommended.
The fuse must be rated at 32 Amps"
Is there something I'm missing but surely the hob should be...
Hi
I know this has been done to death, but was looking for some definitive opinions.
Eg 6mm t+e 4kw double oven 7kw hob 32a MCB or 40a MCB
From searching the forum it appears acceptable to connect both appliances to a single supply bearing in mind diversity.
It has been stated that 2.5...
Hi All
im running a 10mm to the kitchen tomorow for a cooker and hob both run on a total of 12kw at maximum capacity. My question is what is the best way to connect these as im pretty sure it will be near impossible to fit 2 10mm cables in the load terminal.
Thanks all :)

Could someone just check my maths and thinking please.
Induction Hob 7.2kw = 7200/230 = 31.3 A
Double Oven 6.6kw = 6600/230 = 28.7A
Total Load = 60A
Apply diversity
10A + 30% of remaining load
60 - 10 = 50 x 30% = 15A
Diversivified load = 10 + 15 = 25A
So a 6mm T&E on a 32A MCB will be ok...
Hi all, hoping for a bit of guidance.
Been asked to take out an old electric hob and replace with a new one.
My problem is it is fed via a 32 amp bs3036 re-wirable fuse (wylex) to a 45amp cooker switch in 6mm cable......
Can i just connect the new hob into the the 45amp cooker switch or do i...
Hi guys,
A little bit of advice would be most appreciated:
I have just purchased a Neff 4 ring ceramic electric hob with a total load rating of 6.6 KW &
Neff double built in electric stainless steel oven (going into tall cabinet) both oven consumption of 0.79 KW each with a total load rating...
Hi Guys I'm looking in the best way to Wire up a double oven + Hob + Hood.

Can i wire the hood direct using the 13A wire and add the cooker to the 45A ?? Im stuck thou with the hob
Hi folks, first time on the forum so please forgive any technically inept terminology, but just wanted to seek some advice on an issue with domestic wiring. We recently had a new kitchen installed, and a new 30A circuit was required for an induction hob and double oven. The installers set up a...
Hi,
I was looking at the MK switches as we wanted
them to match with the sockets.
But they only have a 32A switch which
matches, the 50A switch is quite large.
Will the 32A switch be ok for this induction hob?
Hi all
Is it acceptable to have 6mm Cable from CU to a 13a socket outlet and on to an isolator for a hob?
Obviously it's not the best method and would be better to use a cooker switch with a socket outlet but If the sockets required in a different room?
I'm guessing 6mm would be difficult to...
Hi just a quick one Iv wired ovens ups few times but never wired a hob and oven seperate, so just want to check obv size depending is it for example 6mm from isolator to hob? Then take your oven off the ring in kitchen or poss pull on it's own 4mm radial on 20amp
I did an EICR on a property today and came across a built in hob with a 45A switch but no dedicated cooker circuit
On further inspection it turns out that the 45A switch is spurred from the kitchen socket ring and feeds a double socket at the back of the built in oven. Both the oven and the...
