Hi guys, do any of you employee an apprentice? I am having a problem what wage to pay mine.Am not jib registered and there rates are to much. He's not started yet and I feel that I need some advice. Can anybody enlighten me with the rate the pay there's

Not got an apprentice but seem to remember when i looked it to it the Minimum wage for an apprentice was £2.68 ph college recommended paying somewhere between that and jib rate

Mine starts college on Monday £2.65/hour.... goes up £2.68 in October this can be up until the age of 19.

But I will increases as he gets better for sure.

These people are very helpful on apprentice info (government run) emailed me back with 24 hours, easy to contact by phone etc :

Apprentice wages vary greatly around by us but it also depends.
The lower paid guys are usually on schemes that get £100 per week.
Then you have employed apprentices like ours that are salaried who earn slightly more (around 6-7k I think).

I was quite lucky as an apprentice as I started on a 10k salary :D
