Please help with CE/UKCA certification

Hi All,
I am just starting a small business making LED video signs. I believe I have to get my product certified for sale in the UK, and I think I can run with just CE compliance. Does anybody have any help on the best people to talk to about this and who will help me through the process? I am based in Worcester and I am regularly in Stockport (Greater Manchester) so anyone close by would be great. TIA

You need an electrical safety testing laboratory to review your product for compliance with the Low Voltage Directive (and since you mention 'video' other pertinent standards like electromagnetic compatibility, RoHS etc).

Samples of your product will need to be tested to the relevant BS EN ISO electrical safety standard(s) and EMC standards that applies to the designs. That really needs to be done by a UKAS accredited test house. I'm not sure if cassindustries are, or whether they would subcontract the testing to BSI or Intertek etc.

It would be worth talking to them if they would offer you a free consultation.

PS If you are manufacturing the product, or contracting that out, once your product design is certified and frozen, you will need a system in place to make sure all the products produced are actually made exactly to that design (ie no 'accidental' changes of parts or assembly steps that change the performance or safety). So there is a further process of quality control needed for production, which often means gaining ISO 9001 certification for your organisation (or if you contract out production, ensuring that company is certified).
