Earth Question

Hi all, newbie here, experience level 'competent plug rewire'er'. Can someone give me a little earthing advice, please? I have just purchased a TimeGuard FSTI-WiFi switch for my electric immersion heater/boiler. The intention is to swap it over with the existing push button boost timer (Newlec NLEBC). The current switch has two neutral, two live and two earth wires, each connected to their own ports. However, the TimeGuard switch has two live and neutral ports, but only one earth port. The connection diagram states 'Loop terminal for earth continuity green/yellow'.

My question is: Can both earth wires be put into this single earth port?

I have included some pictures of the TimeSwitch and Newlec switches.

Yes it’s absolutely fine.

Yes. The important thing is to continue the earth from the supply side, right through to the appliance... in this case, the immersion heater.

If you notice on the old switch, both earth terminals are mounted on the same piece of metal, so there’s a connection between them, even though they’re under separate screws.

Needless to say, please isolate at the fuse board/ consumer unit before commencing, and make sure you get the supply and load cable the right way round in your new switch.
