if you have a room and want to add another socket, is that notifiable and also will the sockets then need to go on an RCD as they currently dont have any RCD's on their cu.

Yip it should go on an RCD or RCBO, and the work is not notifyable if there is already an RCD, if you have to install a new RCD then the work may be notifyable. :D

Not if you change it like for like, as you are not changing the interity of the circuit. :)

so changing a 6A to 10A mcb, not quite like for like, but is notifiable?
So you would have to pay building control (if not registered, like myself lol) to come and 'look' at the change?

Silly questions, but it's handy to know where i stand with regards to notifiable stuff.
Cheers!

if you add another socket regardless of RCD it is notifiable.

i would fill out a electrical installation cert i mean what if there was a fault somwhere not anything to do with new socket and someone got shock , you would get the blame.
so cove your self.

and if adding 1 socket to a ring just a spur would do even if a double

well at the least i would do a minor works cert i mean what if earth loop is crap and disconection time is bad and someone dies cos the circuit wasnt checked?

Absolutely!
Part P requests that all wiring (be it notifyable or not) is installed in accordance with BS7671.
So if you dont inspect, test and certify you will be in breach of part P.
