I need to source a high IP rated 3-5 way board. However, Everytime I search they all come back plastic which obviously isn't compliant with current regs.

The area I have to work with is too small to fit a small board inside an enclosure so thats no option.

The environment that the board will be in is suseptable to small amounts of condensation and sometimes maybe small drops of water from above.

The board is a sub board and is for lighting within a lift shaft/plant room area.

Any ideas if metal consumer units IP54, IP55, IP56 rated are available?

Had a similar job once had to put the CU in an IP rated enclosure worked well trouble was I used Proteus CU, that was a mistake.

Ha true.

I really don't think I have room for a small board inside an IP enclosure.

There must be someone who produces a high IP rated high integrity board?

Good luck with that, Whatever you do don't use Proteus

if the site is commercial or industrial then you can use a plastic CU.

Really? I thought metal consumer units was applicable to all boards in all installations?

nope.only domestic.

1st paragraph:

New non-combustible enclosure requirement for consumer units - https://electrical.----------/wiring-matters/issues/55/new-non-combustible-enclosure-requirement-for-consumer-units/

Looks like that's true. Although I've not done alot of searching to see if it mentions requirements for commercial/industrial.

Didn't see you'd posted that link. Would have saved me looking through the book ;-)

it doesn't. the matal CU fiasco came about for domestic installations after London Fire Brigade reported an increase in the number of house fires accredited to plastic CUs going on fire, caused by Electrical Trainee's being incapable of terminating cables satisfactorily.

make the cheque out to Campaign Assistance (for) Starving Hungarians. ( CASH for short)

Well this has made this job alot easier :-)

As usual, a big thank you.

Schneider manufacture high IP rated GRP boards.

Not getting much look searching for this.

They don't most anything like that on the website

I’ve had a quick look and there’s the acti 9 IP55 board which is steel rather than GRP but I’m pretty sure they do make them too

Could you not just buy a standard CU and mount it in a slightly larger IP55 steel enclosure?

You are probably best off with the insulated consumer unit in your situation but both Europa and BG make 3 usable way consumer units with IP54 and IP65 ratings respectively. The BG unit is made of an alloy but states they meet the AMD3 requirements, the Europa one is steel.
