The house I purchased a few years back came with a gas oven. I am looking to upgrade to a duel-range oven (gas top, electric oven) and therefore am looking to install an outlet where the stove is.

My plan is to install the outlet myself and run the wire to the box and then pay a professional to actually tie it into the box. I also plan to run the wire through the crawl space and across the floor truss (as the oven is on the opposite of the house where the electrical box is).

Two questions:

1) is it recommended/safe to run the wire through the crawl space as I have suggested
2) can the wire be exposed or should I run it through conduit (medal or PVC)

Thanks in advance

contact an electrician first. Tell him your willing to do the leg work. Run cable. He can advise you and quote for works at same time.

im always happy for customer to run cables. I hate crawling through small spaces. Basically you paying me electricians rates for something anyone can do. I will then do what I am paid to do. The electric connection side.

100% this , I can never understand why people don’t do more of the donkey work themselves.
I am more than happy for customers to rip up floors , chase walls and even pull in a cable if they really want to.

Yes to question number 1 and question number 2 is the wire has to be weather resistant to run under your house and it needs to be 4 wire. 2 hots 1 neutral and 1 equipment ground
