hi there, i am gary,27 from england and a fully qualified electrician with 8 years experience. i am looking to move and work in australia in january for a minimum of 1 year.

i am here to hopefully get some information on what i need to look into to get a job there, preferbly in the mines in WA or perth. Do i need any additional qualifications...exams etc.? do i apply for a job before i go? what are the major companies to look into or e-mail for info.

I would appreciate any help as i am pretty clueless at he moment and am really keen todo this.
thank you, gary

Maybe you should call yourself 'pommiesparkie', lol. Sorry, couldn't resist it.

You could try and get a working holiday visa, which would allow you to work up to a year in Australia!!! GETTING work in the mines would not be a good place to start as they will be looking for a more permanent arrangement!
